Passing the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) is a top priority of labor organizers and a bill that President Obama has said he would sign into law. The bill would make it easier for workers to form a union by signing a card that says they want to be part of a union. The proposed law would make it harder for employers to scare or fire workers who try to form a union. Business groups such as the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are working hard to defeat the bill, while unions are working hard to build support for the bill.
