Disappearing Coral Reef

In a report released by the National Marine Fisheries Service, government scientists have concluded that 82 species of coral in U.S. waters will likely go extinct by 2100 if environmental policy doesn’t change. The coral are at risk because oceans and seas are getting warmer and more acidic. Human technologies increase the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, which gets absorbed by the water. Coral reefs are vibrant in color and house a quarter of the world’s marine life.
