The agriculture and meat industries lobbied to pass the HF 585 law, or “ag-gag” rule, in Iowa, so that anyone who works undercover to take pictures or video documenting cruel working conditions and animal abuses will be sent to jail. Ag-gag laws are pending in Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska and New York.
