Katie Schlechter, General Coordinator
Katie Schlechter started working with IndyKids after an extended internship with the Education Institute at Democracy Now! She is passionate about social justice, youth and women’s issues, and loves to travel whenever the opportunity arises. Her other hobbies include learning languages, updating her photography blog and taking ridiculously long walks around Brooklyn on sunny days. She’s thrilled to join the IndyKids community, and can’t wait to work with the amazing kid reporters and dedicated volunteers that give so much life to the organization. |

Isis Phillips, Board Member
Isis is the Financial Director at Democracy Now!, a daily TV/radio news program. As a volunteer with IndyKids, Isis trains and advises the staff on bookkeeping and financial matters. Isis holds a BFA from Marymount College and also studied Accounting and Finance at Baruch College. She has a passion for art and her photography has been featured in both solo and group exhibitions. Isis was born in Panama City and grew up in NYC. |

Judi Cheng, Board Member
Judi Cheng works with young children with communication disorders in New York City. She has been a writer and volunteer with IndyKids since 2006. She loves supporting teachers, and hearing what kids have to say about the world we live in. |

Jean Jacques Charles, Board Member
Jean Jacques Charles is from Queens, NY. He is a former Tenant and Community Organizer, working for organizations such as ACORN and the Northwest Bronx Community and Clergy Coalition. He has a law degrees from Catholic University School of Law (Washington DC) and the University of Dundee (Scotland, UK) and a masters in urban policy from The New School University. As a first generation Haitian-American, he has a strong interest in immigrant and housing issue. |
